Cottage Coat is the coating at the heart of the GemThane revolution. It’s used in the manufacture of our wood products. It’s now available to wood siding do-it-yourselfers in a user-friendly kit form.
Goes on like paint
Cottage Coat is supplied in a user-friendly format that handles and applies very much like a high quality oil-based paint. If you are applying it over an existing finish, the surface preparation is straight forward. Simply power wash and lightly sand, then apply GemThane Cottage Coat like paint. No primer is required. Cottage Coat will cure at any ambient temperature, even in sub-freezing conditions.

Nano-technology

The wood used in GemThane Siding and Decking products has been kiln dried to furniture grade standards in order so stabilize the sap content of the wood. This minimizes the occurrence of sap release. However, because we use real wood, there will still be occasional instances of sap release to the surface of the coating. GemThane Sap Remover is available free of charge from our head office.
GemThane Dex-N-Dox Resurfacer is a polymer coating, based on automotive clear-coat technology, that is used to preserve and restore the surface of residential decking.
This product can be used to renew and protect the appearance of composite deck boards, which have been known to suffer from premature colour fading.
Resurfacer uses the same polyurethane and acrylic resins and the same ultra-violet additives used for automotive and yacht finishes. Being a very low viscosity, Dex-N-Dox Resurfacer penetrates and locks into the surface, then cures over several days to a tough, matte film that resists all the forces that conspire against your deck: weather extremes, acid rain, staining, mildew, sunlight and abrasion. The product is clear, but can be tinted with GemThane Dex-N-Dox Colorant to any of about 25 colors.
